The Parent Teacher Association at Esther Jackson Elementary has a place for all interested volunteers. Contained in the document below are brief descriptions of all leadership and team positions. Some positions already have volunteers; however, many openings remain for the upcoming school year. Please take a few minutes and read over the positions and their descriptions to decide which area(s) fit your talents. There are a wide variety of things to do and something to fit in any schedule.

The 2007-2008 school year is upon us which means early mornings and of course homework. This year our children are not the only ones with work to do. I am reaching out to all parents, Dads, and Grandparents also, to get involved somehow/someway with EJ’s PTA. There are various ways for you to help our school, teachers, and students:

• Take on a Leadership position (several are open)
• Head a committee responsible for an event
• Volunteer (we always have a need for these)

I would like to point out to all parents that by joining EJ PTA you are helping your school gain financial strength by offering grants to our teachers, assist with school improvement and provide much needed support to our teachers and staff. There are also perks you wil receive for participating! Here are just a few of these perks:

• Discounts at the Alliance Theater
• Discounts at the Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers games
• Discounts at Honey Baked Ham Stores
• Discounts at Party City

There are more benefits to being a PTA member and research shows that when families get involved, their children:

• Get better grades and test scores
• Graduate from high school at higher rates
• Are more likely to go on to higher education
• Are better behaved and have more positive attitudes

I just wanted to point out that by being a member you help your school, your child, and you also receive some great discounts at places you actually use! So I ask you again to please join your EJ PTA.
