Wednesday, October 8, is Walk and Roll to School Day. Walking or biking to school is a fantastic way to instill healthy, fun habits in your child and help keep our air clean! It is a great excuse to gather with neighbors and clear your mind before starting the day. Every student who walks, bikes or rides the bus to school can enter a raffle to win a whole day with Mr. Mike and Ms. Sellers! Volunteers will be handing out raffle tickets to everyone who participates. So join us by walking or rolling on the 8th, and you may just be hooked!
For more information, see the flyer to be sent home in backpacks or contact Kim Kopp at kopp@bellsouth.net

Back to School Bash was held Friday, August 22nd.
This event welcomed back all Esther Jackson students and started the new school year off with some fun!
We accomplished this with a lot of help from parent and teacher volunteers. We had face painting and a DJ that got us all dancing. Our next event will be Fall Festival. This year we have Martin’s Landing Foundation sponsoring this event and we plan to make it the best Fall Festival, yet.
Remember to join the PTA, your membership and volunteered time positively impacts all of our children at Esther Jackson.

Here is Your 2008-2009 PTA Leadership Team
The Parent Teacher Association at Esther Jackson Elementary has a place for all interested volunteers. Contained in the document below are brief descriptions of all leadership and team positions. Some positions already have volunteers; however, many openings remain for the upcoming school year. Please take a few minutes and read over the positions and their descriptions to decide which area(s) fit your talents. There are a wide variety of things to do and something to fit in any schedule.

Hello EJ Parents,
Welcome to a new school year at Esther Jackson. Your EJ PTA board has already been hard at work to make this an excellent school year.
We have started to redecorate the Teacher Lounge by giving it a fresh coat of paint. Also, our past PTA funds have paid for new microwaves and new countertops in the Teacher Lounge.
Last year the PTA purchased a new sound system in the cafeteria, new benches for the front entrance, die cuts for the Teacher Workroom, Teacher Luncheons/Breakfasts and the list goes on and on. We encourage you to get in on the fun and show your support to your children and school by volunteering your time. We just ask for 3 hours of your time per school year.
Keep in mind we are all volunteers and we all have the same goal: To make Esther Jackson the best school for our children! The only way to achieve this goal is dedicating the time that you have available to your child’s school and their learning. We have compiled a list of volunteer opportunities that can be done in the morning, during the school day, at night, at home, or even at the school.
Please take time at Open House to view all of the opportunities and sign up for something and visit the PTA membership table to show your support by becoming a member. I look forward to meeting you all and volunteering our time together.
Sincerely,
Melissa Stockard
2008-2009
EJ PTA President
